– ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ROMANCE BOOKS – (BOOK LIST)
This is probably one of my most anticipated novel of 2020! The Simple Wild was my first book by KA Tucker in 2018, and since then I read a couple more books by her, but The Simple Wild is still my most favorite, not just because of the YETI and Alaska – lol. Either way, I reread The Simple Wild earlier this year, and I’m glad I did, because this book pretty much picks up exactly where TSW ended.
Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can’t dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.
But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price—a log cabin in interior rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.
With Jonah gone more than he’s home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.
This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother’s fleeing footsteps after all.
WILD AT HEART BY KA TUCKER
A true sequel is never an easy thing to do. Readers often feel that a great book should stand on its own, and doesn’t need a sequel. But then there is a couple like Jonah and Calla, where one book is just not enough. And this time I actually got MORE.
I’M HAPPY TO SAY THAT THE AUTHOR COULDN’T HAVE WRITTEN A MORE PERFECT SEQUEL FOR THIS COUPLE.
It had everything I wanted, and needed. More relationship growth between the main couple, an even stronger connection and the same wonderful chemistry between Jonah and Calla. Jonah’s trademark bluntness, and Calla’s need for making friends. This book was written for all the fans of Calla and Jonah.
It’s a feel good novel. Located in a picturesque area of Alaska. It’s the Alaska we all dream of and wanting to visit. A log cabin on a lake. A great group of friends. Grumpy and nosey/pushy neighbors that become amazing supporting characters, and of course some adorable animals.
I’m telling you, this book had it ALL!!! At least all the things I enjoy in a romance. A story that keeps me smiling, grinning, and laughing and NO tears this time.
I loved how the book was filled with growth, personal as well as relationship growth. Full of new and old friendships. The focus was on friendships and family, building something new, and finding a happy place. In the end Wild at Heart is a bit more light hearted and less emotional than TSW, but I think Calla deserves that after everything she went through in book one.
For me, this novel was a feel good book from start to finish. And in the end, I was left with a feeling of wanting even more books about Calla, Jonah and their Alaska adventure.

I thought this was a great sequel, too! I wouldn’t mind a third Calla and Jonah book. Great review!
Same 😀 And I think the author might be up for it – we just need to be patient ….. which is going to be hard for me lol
I loved this one too!! Perfect follow up to The Simple Wild ☺️
Yes, it couldn’t have been any more perfect – and I definitely see a re-read coming 😀
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Simple Wild. One of my all-time favorite romances. Wild At Heart was a great sequel. it definitely added to the overall story and had great character development. Can’t wait for #3.
I feel the same. Wild at Heart added to their story, it gave us even more, and I’m ecstatic that we are getting a novella – although a novella will never be enough – lol.
Forever Wild was released today. I would have enjoyed more meaningful interactions between Calla and Jonah, and less of everyone else, but still a fun read. I didn’t have high expectations for this novella, so I’m happy with it.
I finished last night and I agree, I would have liked more Calla and Jonah too.
