Sam Brandis was Tate Jones’s first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.
During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tate—the long-lost daughter of one of the world’s biggest film stars—ever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.
Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, he’s the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if it’s possible to do the wrong thing for the right reason… and whether “once in a lifetime” can come around twice.
It’s a sign of my devotion to all things Christina Lauren that I’m nowadays going blind into their books. I don’t need to read the blurb or know anything else except that it is a Christina Lauren book.

BOOK REVIEW
MY THOUGHTS
Over the last two years I’ve become a huge fan of all things Christina Lauren. And even though I enjoy all of their novels, I have a weakness for their more serious, thoughtful and moving novels, like Love and Other Words.
TWICE IN A BLUE MOON VERY MUCH REMINDED ME OF LAOW.
I don’t read second chance romances often enough to be an expert, but Tate and Sam’s story was touching, moving and beautiful. They needed a second chance. It was like neither was able to move on without the other. Both of them already found THE ONE, now it was just a case of letting the past be the past and moving on! The circumstances might have been unfortunate but the endgame was already written in the stars.
I love Hollywood inspired novels. It’s like getting a glimpse of how it’s done in Hollywood. Moreover I enjoyed all the movie related details about the set, the crew, the process.
Although part of the story was mostly about Tate’s journey, it didn’t take away from the overall beautifully crafted love story between the two star-crossed lovers. Instead it allowed for a more deeply insight into Tate’s life after the tumultuous event in London. The past and present collided in a very emotional, and heart tugging way. And I had a hard time putting the book down, which made going to work really inconvenient.
It has become clearer with each Christina Lauren book, that their standalone novels are some of my favorites. I’m always looking forward to the next release, excited to see what it will be about, because each one is unique, distinctive and compelling in its own way. Twice in a Blue Moon was no exception.
The one thing I always lament about is the missing epilogue. The ending comes way too soon, I’m always unprepared and need just a little more time to say goodbye to my favorite characters.

Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren | BOOK REVIEW
I still need to read my first book by this author but if your review is anything to go by, she’ll be a favorite because I love emotional novels and sweet romance. Wonderful review darling!
I love her books, but of course I have my favorites, if you love rom-coms you’ll enjoy their books. 😀
You enjoyed this one more than I did. I think it’s because the big reveal made me mad for some reason. I was hoping it would be different, although I understood the why. And then that ending! I needed more.
Great review!
I can see why. I hated the big misunderstanding in The Unhoneymooners, almost ruined the entire book for me. Books are so personal, it really depends on the reader. For me this one was a solid one, far from perfect, but I enjoyed it more than The Honey-Don’t List. Ever since Love And Other Words, I haven’t read a book that was AMAZING by CL, although I loved Josh & Hazel, it’s probably my second favorite after LAOW 😀
I’m glad you enjoyed this one! ? I’ve seen some pretty mixed reviews of it, and it unfortunately was one of my least favourite from Christina Lauren ?
I feel like all of their standalones had some pretty mixed reviews ? If you look at GR ratings, almost none of those books have a 4 star rating, besides Love and Other Words and Autoboyography. Josh & Hazel is the only one siting at 4.08 ?
I think I liked this one more since it reminded me of Love and Other Words. But honestly none of their books have wowed or amazed me in recent years, but you can bet that I’ll be reading their new releases as soon as they come out. 😀
lol makes sense! Have you read The Honey Don’t List yet? I got about halfway through it before giving up and deciding it wasn’t for me ?
yes ? it was my least liked CL book yet – I was SO CRUSHED
Ah, that’s unfortunate, I’ve yet to hear anything particularly good about it ?
I enjoy Christina Lauren, but I wasn’t a big fan of this book. I’m glad you enjoyed it more, though. Great review!
Thank you – it looks like I’m in the minority with this one 😀
I just love finding those authors that you never need to read the blurb ….you just connect with their writing in such a deep way.
I rated it the same as you – 4 stars! I feel like with this book I did enjoy the part when they were still teenagers/younger a little more. CLo always has a beautiful way of writing their words!
I loved the YA part!! I felt the same about KA TUCKER’s Say You Still Love Me, loved the YA half of the book. Some of these authors would make such great YA authors. 😀
