Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.
Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.
Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.
There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

Things We Never Got Over
by Lucy Score
A Lucy Score book guarantees two things – great banter and awesome humor. I love both if it’s done right, and it’s definitely done right in THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER. My most favorite book her is still ROCK BOTTOM GIRL, which I have read multiple times so far, and it just doesn’t get old. But THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER was a fantastic read, with so many beloved tropes, and the author’s signature wit and banter.
BANTER & HUMOR
Her writing is so ME. I can’t explain it, but I love her writing. And her humor is just the right amount of funny, never too cheesy, and right up my alley. Her writing is smart, witty and snarky – her best friend Stefan was the hoot!!!
SMALL TOWN ROMANCE
If you are sucker for small town romances, this is the book for you. THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER had everything I love about this genre. A small town setting, a great supporting cast, quirky and nosy/meddling characters, and as always big families. Big families can be the hoot, I love the goodnatured teasing, but also the support, and love.
SUNSHINE/GRUMP COUPLE
I’m a BIG fan of sunshine/grump couples, and Knox and Naomi fit the bill perfectly. The banter was perfect!!! I laughed my way through the book, having the best time. The couple had fantastic chemistry, and the slower burn between them was very satisfying.
SINGLE PARENT/GUARDIAN TROPE
This is definitely one of my favorite romance tropes, and smartmouthed teenagers are the best. Loved the connection between Naomi and her niece, and the way they got to know each other. One big happy family, with dogs, and grandma – I had a blast!!!
I can see myself re-reading it in the future. A feel-good romance that was fun, and had some really great characters. Pretty much all the things I love about this genre. Also, I’m incredibly happy that more books about this fictional town are coming, because I fell utterly in love with the cast and one book was not enough.
