SUNDAY POST #3 / IT’S GETTING COLD
It’s already mid November, the time is flying….
It’s hard to believe that the election has been over a week ago, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. And the weather changed from one day to another. We still had warm days in October, but as soon as it switch to November, suddenly we get COLD nights and days.
It’s also the time of the year to write all my “best of” blog posts, and I’m looking forward to my “Annual End Of Year Survey”. Currently I have more non-review posts planned than ever before.
But if you ask me what I’ve read these last two weeks, I couldn’t put my finger on any specific book. I read some, I DNF, and I listen to audiobooks, and somehow I finish books.
And I also watch Netflix, which is kinda a new development. I signed up again, and the first show I binged was The Queen’s Gambit – so good, especially all the chess playing. And the heroine really grew on me. Would love to get a second season.
SUNDAY POST #3 / IT’S GETTING COLD
What I’m currently reading

I just finished Surrender Your Sons by Adam Sass which was as powerful as expected. I can only recommend it. And I hope my review will be ready this week.
I’m also in the middle of Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur, it’s a sweet LGBTQ romance, well written but not yet wowing me. But we’ll see how it goes.
And my most recent book is The Truth Project by Dante Medema. The audiobook almost expired on me, but I realized that it’s only 4 hours of listening since the book is mainly written in email and text. In that sense 400 pages can actually turn into a “short” audiobook, and I’m confident I can finish it today. But so far, the audiobook is incredible, every emotion is coming across thanks to an amazing narrator.
SUNDAY POST #3 / IT’S GETTING COLD
What’s been happening on the blog
☞ I decided to write a blog post about VIRGIN RIVER: BOOKS TO READ AFTER WATCHING THE SHOW. I devoured the series in 2011, so long ago, and really enjoyed the Netflix show. Season two is coming out soon (December) and I know I’ll be binging it too.
☞ I finally listened to The Broken Girls by Simone St James. I wanted to read the book ever since I read The Sun Down Motel earlier this year, and honestly I’m glad I waited this long, it was the perfect October/November read.
☞ Who is ready for Christmas novels? Because I sat down and compiled some must read novels for this holiday season. 10 CHRISTMAS ROMANCE NOVELS TO READ THIS YEAR
☞ I finally got my library copy of None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney, and all I can say is – SO GOOD!!!!! Loved the idea of juvenile profilers, on the hunt for predators who prey on juveniles. It reminded me of Criminal Minds and The Silence of the Lambs.
☞ My most favorite thriller of 2020 was without a doubt The Night Swim by Megan Goldin. I just love it when a book is written with an audiobook in mind, and the format of crime podcast was perfect for audio.
☞ And I finally, finally sat down and wrote a book review, more like a series review of one of my most favorite Urban Fantasy series The Others by Anne Bishop. I love these books so much and hope more will find them and enjoy them as much as I do.
SUNDAY POST #3 / IT’S GETTING COLD
Written In the Stars looks really good!
It does! And I just saw NPR doing a feature on it. 😊
Nice! I look forward to hearing what you think!
Its getting colder here too….but it makes me think of Christmas so silver lining!!! Happy reading!
That’s true! It’s definitely sweater, jacket and scarf weather 😍
I have 2 pairs of socks on today im so cold!!!
I’m bundled up too!!! On the one hand I love this season, on the other I hate to be cold – lol
😂😂 same!
I want to see more books featuring Rachel from The Night Swim, don’t you? More podcasts and more mysteries. I loved it too! ❤️
Yes, that’s exactly what I hope the author will do. It’s so easy to make this into a series. So many cases to explore.
Written in the Stars is on my TBR, I have the ARC, but the audio is looking rather appealing right now. Listening to books is going a lot better than trying to read the ebook.
I’m right there with you, I feel that I’m having a better chance of finishing a book if I listen to it instead of reading 😳
We’ve got cold here in the Seattle area, too. Cold and rainy. I would rather have cold and sunny. Less depressing.
That’s true, and I do enjoy having the sun come out every day. It makes a difference.
We have cold, grey, rainy and dismal. We had sun today, but that was it. I can’t believe winter is almost here.
It’s hard to believe that it officially starts next month. California is blessed with a lot of sunshine even during fall and winter, but everywhere else it gets really grey and dreary. On the other hand we never get a real winter, and barely any fall colors, which I miss so badly, and then there is the fires in the summer. I think I rather take a balanced four seasons – lol.
I totally agree with you Corinna. I am truly blessed with where I live (Southern Ontario) and always loved the winter when I was a kid. Getting older, I don’t like cold, hence traveling to Florida right after Christmas each year. (Not this year though). I enjoyed the fall colours, but they are pretty much gone now as we rake up our yards. Sunny today, so I am going out for a walk.
I love St. James and yes perfect fall listen 🙂 YES..I love The Others series; they are so good on audio.
After two books, she is going on my auto-read list. And there is nothing better than visiting Lakeside Courtyard 😀
