Sunday Post #1 one day at a time
Welcome to my first Sunday Post
I was looking for something to post on the weekends, and really like the idea of a weekly check in. I’ve seen these Sunday Posts on my reader for many years now, and finally made the jump.
If you have read my August Wrap-Up from last week, you know that August has been a rough month for me. But this week has been much better. I feel like as long as I take one day at a time, it’s doable.
Also, where has August gone? It seems we had 4th of July not long ago, and now it’s already Labor Day Weekend. 2020 is one strange year. It is especially obvious when it comes to holidays that are usually big family get togethers, vacation and camping weekends. It’s a very strange time and it feels a bit surreal.
But although August was gone in a blink of an eye, I’ve added tons of new books to my tbr last month, and I even took the time and wrote a blog post about all the books I added to my tbr.
BOOKS I READ
I listened to three audiobooks this week:
What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin
The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed
The Switch by Beth O’Leary

And read the fifth book in one of my most highly anticipated UF MM books series:
On the Wings of War (Soulbound #5) by Hailey Turner
β it was SO GOOD!!!! As always, as soon as I was done with the book, I NEEDED the next one. And I just found out that there are only two more books in this series ?

And a hilarious and adorable rom-com:
Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score
β My audiobooks are becoming increasingly more serious lately, so reading something fluffy and funny in between was just what the doctor ordered.
I’m also expecting some book mail this week. Yesterday arrived my copy of Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover, my ARC copy of In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren is on its way, same as Thick as Thieves by Sandra Brown. I’m excited!!! Because of the upcoming move I rarely buy books anymore and I stopped requesting review copies from the publishers. It’s been a boring year for my mailbox.
BLOG POSTS I LOVED
New-To-Me Author Summer Bingo Wrap-Up #nasbingo
Thanks to Ali’s successful and impressive New-To-Me Author Summer Bingo, I’m bummed out that I didn’t participate in it. I love finding new authors, and this year has definitely been a year where new authors compete with old and favorite authors. Never before have I read this many new authors. And this bingo would have been awesome to do. Maybe next year….
How to get out of a reading slump?
If you suffer from a book slump, Lainy over at Bookish Bits Blog has the perfect blog post for you. Her post covers everything you need to know, and number 2, 3 & 4 work like a charm for me. They are by far the biggest reasons why I haven’t experienced a major slump in years.
Why I Donβt Like Comment Back Culture Anymore
Sumedha over at The Wordy Habitat wrote this fantastic discussion about Comment Back Culture. It’s such an interesting topic especially since it does feel more and more that most of social media has becoming very transactional. A comment for a comment. A follow for a follow. A like for a like.
BOOKS I WANT TO READ
Thanks to Daisy @ DG Book Blog I added the The Ravenhood Duet by Kate Stewart to my tbr.

Can you keep a secret?
β£
I grew up sick.β£
β£
Let me clarify.β£
β£
I grew up believing that real love stories include a martyr or demand great sacrifice to be worthy.β£
β£
Because of that, I believed it, because I made myself believe it, and I bred the most masochistic of romantic hearts, which resulted in my illness.β£
β£
When I lived this story, my own twisted fairy tale, it was unbeknownst to me at the time because I was young and naΓ―ve. I gave into temptation and fed the beating beast, which grew thirstier with every slash, every strike, every blow.β£
β£
Triple Falls wasnβt at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets.β£
β£
Secrets that cost us everything to keep.β£
β£
Thatβs the novelty of fiction versus reality. You canβt re-live your own love story, because by the time youβve realized youβre living it, itβs over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to.β£
β£
Looking back, Iβm convinced I willed my story into existence due to my illness.β£
β£
And all were punished.

And thanks to Deanna @anovelglimpse I found out about Nate by Tijan and immediately pre-ordered it.
Nate is going to be an enemies-to-lovers standalone from the Fallen Crest universe – WOOHOO!!!!
Tijan is one of my favorite indie authors, and almost always delivers an entertaining read. Her books are pure escapism.
No blurb available yet.
So, that’s it for this week. Wish you all a happy Sunday and until next week…
Sunday Post #1 one day at a time
I love this post and the idea behind it – I might join in! I’m SO behind in blogging – August was not the best of reading or blogging months for me and today is the first time I’ve sat in front of my laptop just to browse blogs for AGES.
Have a lovely Sunday π
I needed something to post on Sundays, and I just like the idea of a mini wrap up π Would love for you to join!!
Happy Sunday!!
I love how you included those posts that inspired you. Maybe they’ll inspire me too?
I haven’t read from Tijan in a long while and I’m actually looking forward to reading the Fallen Crest series some day.
I hope your ARCs are everything you want them to be π
I’ve seen posts that include other blogs, and I’ve always loved the idea behind it. Thought it was worth a try π
It’s always worth it. I love showing my appreciation to fellow bloggers/readers! We need to share the love more β€οΈ
I agree!!!!
I am not hosting the Sunday Post but I say it anyway: Welcome to the Sunday Post blogger community. It is always nice to read about other bloggers around the world and to see how they are coping with the virus situation. You are so right. It is surreal. I am from Germany and will hopefully be able to visit your blog at least once a week *smile* Happy reading, stay safe and well and enjoy the Labor Day Weekend.
Hi there fellow German :D. I’ll be back in Germany at the end of the year. Looking forward to so much traveling in the future, hopefully the Covid number permit it. Looking forward to chatting books with you.
btw, do you have a blog? When I click on your name (inkvotary.wordpress.com) nothing pops up.
In a Holidaze sounds so good! So does The Switch. I have both on my TBR. I’ve heard a lot of buzz about Colleen Hoover’s book lately too. Can’t wait to read your thoughts!
August flew by. I’m so not ready for fall yet.
I’m glad I helped you pre-order Nate. π I also want to read that Kate Steward duet after DG’s post.
Have a great week!
Oh yeah, fastest one-click ever, lol
So glad this has been a better week for you! I just added Lucy Score’s book and the Soulbound series to my TBR. I’ll have to check those out. Thanks so much for the shout out!! I hope you have a fabulous week!!
Your welcome!!! Lucy Score was HILARIOUS!!!! And of course yay and a double ???? for the Soulbound series.
I am glad this week feels much better for you Corina. And of course you’re going to read Nate! Duh! :-))))
Duh – lol
There was no doubt about it Sophie π
I have been seeing the Sunday Post for years too and I have considered joining a few times but I never end up making the decision to do it. Maybe I will do it now, it seems like a fun, relax way to update people on how you’re doing and what your reading.
I’m sorry to hear that August has been a hard month for you, I hope things keep getting better!
I was the same, seeing them for years, and only now making the jump, and I can say I’m not regretting it π
Thank you so much for sharing my post! And a weekly check-in post is a great idea. Back when I used to do Sunday Posts regularly, I used it to talk about life as well because these posts ~can~ be versatile.
