Olivia Dade bursts onto the scene in this delightfully fun romantic comedy set in the world of fanfiction, in which a devoted fan goes on an unexpected date with her celebrity crush, who’s secretly posting fanfiction of his own.
Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. While the world knows him as Aeneas, the star of the biggest show on TV, Gods of the Gates, he’s known to fanfiction readers as Book!AeneasWouldNever, an anonymous and popular poster. Marcus is able to get out his own frustrations with his character through his stories, especially the ones that feature the internet’s favorite couple to ship, Aeneas and Lavinia. But if anyone ever found out about his online persona, he’d be fired. Immediately.
April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s hidden her fanfiction and cosplay hobby from her “real life” for years—but not anymore. When she decides to post her latest Lavinia creation on Twitter, her photo goes viral. Trolls and supporters alike are commenting on her plus-size take, but when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her pic and asks her out on a date to spite her critics, she realizes life is really stranger than fanfiction.
Even though their first date is a disaster, Marcus quickly realizes that he wants much more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. And when he discovers she’s actually Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to hide from her.
With love and Marcus’s career on the line, can the two of them stop hiding once and for all, or will a match made in fandom end up prematurely cancelled?

MY THOUGHTS & REVIEW
Years ago I was a HUGE fan of fan fiction, specifically Buffy, and although I never wrote it, I read it for years almost inclusively. I was actually obsessed with it. And I still remember the time fondly.
It’s always fun when novels incorporate fanfic into their storyline.
I also loved that the heroine was plus size and I really appreciated her perspective. Also, I was surprised by how steamy the book was. I honestly didn’t expect that. Nice Surprise!
I’ve also noticed that more and more authors add media snippets to their novels. If it’s done well it can add to a story, but sometimes it can also be a bit much. For me the many script outtakes and fanfic excerpts didn’t hit the mark, and actually took away from the overall story. I personally like to concentrate on the real couple, instead of adding another fictional couple to the mix.
Also, as so often with having an online persona, the characters never come clean right away, and the outcome of holding back is rather predictable. Because honestly, it can only end one way. It was extra sad because both, Marcus (40 years of age) and April were adults, and I really wished they would have been more forthcoming.
But overall, Spoiler Alert was a cute romance novel, and I can see how it will be a hit with many romance readers.

This book was so adorable! I’m glad you liked it. I have never been a fan fiction person, and even I liked how it was used in this book.
Have you read any of her other books yet? I wonder if I should check them out.
Yes, I read 40-Love. It was good! I didn’t love it as much as I loved this one, but this one is hard to beat.
