Since its immediate success in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has remained one of the most popular novels in the English language. Jane Austen called this brilliant work “her own darling child” and its vivacious heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, “as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print.” The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and her proud beau, Mr. Darcy, is a splendid performance of civilized sparring. And Jane Austen’s radiant wit sparkles as her characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, making this book the most superb comedy of manners of Regency England.
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennett, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennett sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BY JANE AUSTEN
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
My most favorite romance movie of all times is the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice. I can’t put in words how much this movie moved me the first time I watched it and how often I watched it since 2005. I’m in love with the music, the performances and especially with Mr Darcy. My infatuation went so far that I bought myself a Mr Darcy statue, proof photo above.
But most of all I’m in love with the story. It’s timeless. And I’m just a sucker for anything close to “He is madly in love, she can’t bear him.” Also it’s a historical romance written by someone who actually lived during that particular period, which makes it so much more authentic in my eyes.
I remember reading the book many years ago, but wanted to re-read it again, this time via audiobook. Of course there are dozens of different versions available, but I had my heart set on the one narrated by Rosamund Pike who actually played the role of Jane Bennett in the 2005 movie.
And I must say she did a marvellous job!!
The different voices were so close to the movie that I had certain scenes vividly in my head when I listened to the book. While listening I even recognised entire dialogues from the movie. The inflections in her voice was remarkably close to the movie. All in all it was a fantastic production and I couldn’t have picked a better version.
If you haven’t read this book yet but you want to, and if you love audiobooks, you NEED to pick up this version. The experience was incredible. And afterwards you must watch the movie.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen | AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
I loved this book so much and I’m so damn desperate to watch the 2005 version of the movie! It was so much fun to read the book with you 😊
I’m so glad you asked me to read it with you. Because I don’t think I would have picked it up anytime soon, and now I’m in this Jane Austen mood and want to watch everything there is 😀
Omg! That’s so funny that you bought a statue…funny hahaha as in I am super jealous and want one too! P&P is one of my favorite classics too, although I like to watch Colin Firth when I have the chance and will opt for the 2005 when I have less time. I will have to check out the audiobook now too!
I want to watch the mini series, I’m in this mood of watching all Jane Austen adaptations, and yes I couldn’t stop myself from owning my own Mr Darcy 😀
Audiobooks would be a great way to revisit classics. I like that the actress read this version. It would make me more likely to pick it up.
That’s the reason why I picked this audiobook in particular, and I didn’t regret it 😀
I’ll definitely have to give the audiobook a try! I LOVEEEEEE the 2005 version as well and I’ve been obsessed with the soundtrack since I first saw the movie years ago. I’ll have to rewatch it soon.
I think you would love it, she does such a fabulous job with the voices, it felt like watching the movie, and I forgot that there are so many more scenes between Darcy and Elizabeth, so many more than in the movie. I feel like we should have gotten two movies – lol
