My Favorite Books / First Quarter 2020
I got the idea of a quarterly post of my favorite books from Anniek’s Library, check out her post and give her a follow.
I’m not someone that gives out 5 stars very often, and it usually is reserved to books that are special to me, moved me, and I can see myself reading again, which I’ve already proven by reading Wild at Heart a second time in two month.
So, here are my most favorite books of the first three month. All deserved 5 stars, and my highest recommendations.

Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon
Expected publication: April 28th 2020
This book was my FIRST 5 star of the year. It’s a historical romance during the 19th hundreds, the time of the Oregon Trail, when hundred thousands families made their way west. The author took inspiration from real journal entries and wove them into a story that was enchanting, heart-warming and emotionally touching. It’s a historical romance with HEART!! And brilliantly written.

Wild at Heart (The Simple Wild #2) by K.A. Tucker
Published February 18th 2020
I fell in love with Calla and Jonah in 2018 and ever since prayed for a sequel, getting one was like Christmas and birthday combined. But for it to be even better than the original was an AMAZING luck. I loved The Simple Wild, but Wild at Heart is so GOOD that I’ve read it already twice in two month. It has everything I love in a good romance, banter, feelings, chemistry, and a fantastic supporting cast, and of course ALASKA.

Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah
Published November 15th 2016 // Audiobook Recommendation
I’m not an expert when it comes to memoirs, but I know what I like. And this one blew me away!! Not only was the author an amazing narrator, but his humor and personality was what really drew me in, and of course his story about his childhood in South Africa during the apartheid. It was a history lesson packed into a fascinating story about how life was, at that time, in a country that forbade marriage and relationships between black and white people.

The Big Finish by Brooke Fossey
Published April 14th 2020
Ever since A Man Called Ove I have a weakness for books about older citizens, especially when they are grumpy and grouchy. I actually got two of those to fall in love with in this novel. The Big Finish was charming and endearing and just the right book to pull me in. I adored it from beginning to end.

She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement by Jodi Kantor, Megan Twohey
Published September 10th 2019
I don’t often read non-fiction, but there are a few books that are almost considered mandatory reading, and I felt this one was such a case. I love great investigative journalism, and the way this one was written, made it easy to read. It was fascinating to watch it all unravel. Can only recommend it to anyone interested in the topic of Weinstein.

Thank you so much Lauren ?
Both, She Said and Born a Crime are major recommendations. I would even suggest to check out some of the other reviews on GR, you’ll see that I’m not alone with my love for either. She Said is a MUST READ, just because of the topic, also Catch and Kill, by Ronan Farrow covers the same topic, many readers loved that one as well. And Born a Crime is just one of the BEST memoirs I’ve read in a LONG time. Definitely check them both out. 😀
I also loved Where the Lost Wander and Wild at Heart! Great list!
Thank you 😀 Reading these two so early in the year was just the icing on the cake. Loved them both so much!
I just love your list here and unfortunately I haven’t read any of these BUT I do plan on trying out KA Tucker this summer and I have heard such a great things about Amy Harmon’s book.
Hope you find some great reads in your second quarter of the year.
I’m looking forward to whatever the next quarter brings. 😀 And I can only recommend the Wild duet by KA Tucker, I can see you loving it.
I’m so happy you loved Where the Lost Wander also! Such a great book!!
It was a fantastic book 😀 I’m super hyped about it – and hope everyone is going to read it – lol
I feel the same way!! It makes me happy to see it everywhere right now.
Also loved Trevor Noahs book even though it was a few years ago.
I just read it recently, so it’s still incredibly fresh in my mind. 😀
