Marin Cole has never:
Seen the ocean
Climbed a mountain
Taken a risk on love
….But if her sister’s plan works, she just might do all three.
Ever since her journalist mother died on assignment, Marin has played it safe, refusing to set foot outside the state of Tennessee. Her wild-child younger sister, Sadie, has trotted the globe as a photographer, living off of art and adrenaline. When Sadie returns from a tough assignment abroad and looks a little worse for wear, Marin reluctantly agrees to a sisters’ spa weekend on the tropical island of Saba. But her lifelong fear of travel is affirmed when Sadie misses the flight, Marin’s luggage gets mixed up with another passenger’s, and an episode of turbulence sends her hurtling into the lap of Lucas Tsai, the handsome stranger who stole her sister’s seat.
For the first time in a long time, Marin has to step outside of her comfort zone as she explores the island with Lucas and learns what she’s been missing out on. With each breathtaking new experience, Marin gets closer to her real self, the man she’s falling for, and the heart-wrenching truth about why she’s there in the first place.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
I received a copy of this book from the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I must admit I looked at the cover and immediately added it to my tbr pile. But after reading the blurb I knew it wouldn’t be a lighthearted romance. Although the book has some cute rom-come aspects to it, I would not put MEET ME IN PARADISE into the romance category. The novel is more women’s fiction than romance.
It’s about a journey of self-discovery, stepping out of one’s own shadow and trying something new. Living life to the fullest. Don’t take me wrong, the book has a romance, actually two, but the plot focuses more on the sisters and not so much on the romance between Marin and Lucas.
MEET ME IN PARADISE is also quite the emotional novel. Actually bordering on heartbreaking at times. And the story, but mostly the topic itself is not usually something I like to read. But as one of three sisters, books focused on the relationship between sisters always brings out the sentimental in me. Marin and her younger sister Sadie are different, and have a complex relationship that features heavy throughout the story. It was interesting to hear both POVs, which allowed a closer look into their relationship. Sibling relationships can be quite interesting, and Marin and Sadie’s has fascinating layers and complicated memories.
For a debut novel the book is well written and has great Asian representation.
Sadly I didn’t enjoy the narration of the audiobook as much, which is not the author’s fault, BUT it took some of the enjoyment from the book. An audiobook can make or break a story, and this time it was the latter.

I saw that cover with your post and thought it would be a fun book…then I read your review. I hate when a cover makes me think fun instead of emotional. It sounds like a good book, but I think I would pass on it simply because I don’t want to be sad lately. Great review.
I agree! But at least the blurb hints on the emotional. Because sometimes neither the cover nor the blurb do the book justice. I must agree with you, I’m not keen on picking up overly sad books either. But made an exception for this one though.
I really enjoyed this book, even if it was a lot sadder than I was expecting, I ended up crying while reading it which doesn’t happen often. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the audiobook for it, the narration is so important, it really can make or break a book.
I’m such a big audiobook lover that it’s always crushing when the narration isn’t on par with my expectations. The last few chapters were incredibly emotional for me, and I can’t even imagine what it must feel for someone in such a position.
