RELATED: THE BOOKS THAT GET ME OUT OF A BOOK SLUMP

The story of the heart can never be unwritten.
Macy Sorensen is settling into an ambitious if emotionally tepid routine: work hard as a new pediatrics resident, plan her wedding to an older, financially secure man, keep her head down and heart tucked away.
But when she runs into Elliot Petropoulos—the first and only love of her life—the careful bubble she’s constructed begins to dissolve. Once upon a time, Elliot was Macy’s entire world—growing from her gangly bookish friend into the man who coaxed her heart open again after the loss of her mother…only to break it on the very night he declared his love for her.
Told in alternating timelines between Then and Now, teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more—spending weekends and lazy summers together in a house outside of San Francisco devouring books, sharing favorite words, and talking through their growing pains and triumphs. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love.
It’s hard to describe how much I loved this book. The FEELINGS in this story blew me away. The friendship and the growing love between the teens, was all consuming and made my heart overflow with LOVE. This book is by far the authors’ BEST work yet! Just in a different stratosphere all together – AMAZING!!!

MY THOUGHTS
This story is about the past and the present.
The past covers the teenage years of Macy and Elliot, and I don’t think I’ve read anything more beautiful than their story. It was absolutely tender, deeply emotional, and incredibly touching. It was beyond beautiful. A slow burn relationship between Macy and Elliot that started as friendship, and gradually became all consuming. They were each other’s EVERYTHING. It was easily comprehensible how much they meant to each other. Their feelings were palpable and undeniable with each word.
The present describes a chance encounter and ultimately gives the couple a second chance. I mourned for what they lost, but also cheered with every new encounter.
For me what made this book outstanding and an absolute MUST read, is Elliot’s absolute love for Macy. When he talked, I swooned. Even as a teenager, he was a dream, and I was enamored with him. And as an adult he was just – WOW!!! Macy and Elliot were a couple that belonged together. They understood each other better than anyone else. They were yin and yang, the other half, the missing piece. Soulmates.
What I liked the most about this story, was the slow build up. The slow burn. There was this amazing relationship that developed in front of my eyes, and I felt like I was part of it. Macy and Elliot didn’t rush into anything. They knew what they meant to each other, and slowly built on that foundation, to become MORE.
I was literally blown away by this story. And I couldn’t believe what I was reading, I was almost vibrating deliriously in anticipation.
If you love a great love story. A story that is so much more. An epic tale about love, loss and forgiveness. A love that conquers all, by touching hearts and minds. In retrospect I didn’t really have a choice at all. By opening this book I turned my heart over into the talented hands of the authors, and I didn’t regret it one second.
What an amazing book, worthy of all the stars!!
