BEST YOUNG ADULT BOOKS OF 2020

I don’t even remember anymore how I came across this book. All I know is that is is REALLY GOOD and needs to read by everyone!! Not only would it make a perfect addition to anyone’s diverse reading list, or Black author list, it’s a book that educates in a rather touching and moving way.
Felix Love has never been in love—and, yes, he’s painfully aware of the irony. He desperately wants to know what it’s like and why it seems so easy for everyone but him to find someone. What’s worse is that, even though he is proud of his identity, Felix also secretly fears that he’s one marginalization too many—Black, queer, and transgender—to ever get his own happily-ever-after.
When an anonymous student begins sending him transphobic messages—after publicly posting Felix’s deadname alongside images of him before he transitioned—Felix comes up with a plan for revenge. What he didn’t count on: his catfish scenario landing him in a quasi–love triangle….
But as he navigates his complicated feelings, Felix begins a journey of questioning and self-discovery that helps redefine his most important relationship: how he feels about himself.
Felix Ever After is an honest and layered story about identity, falling in love, and recognizing the love you deserve.

The book, and especially the audiobook was wonderfully adorable, cute, and sweet, but also thought provoking, eye opening, and educational. A real MUST READ!
Felix Ever After was a fun and adorable YA romance. Beautifully written, and fantastically narrated. I was hooked within 30 min of listening. And immediately fell in love with the narration, the characters voices, and the tone and atmosphere of the book.
This story is all about self discovery, and love. It has an adorable love story. Characters that are incredibly likable. And a story that delivers. Besides that, I learned about discrimination within the LGBTQ community, and gender identity.
Overall, the book is so much more than just a wonderful YA story. Similar to THUG, the book does the educational part very well, as well as being captivating, and utterly enthralling.
Subsequently, I can only recommend it to anyone – audiobook or regular book – it’s a double thumbs up kind of book.

Wow… Great Review. I’m looking for romance genre books and I think I’ll definitely read this book.
Definitely on my tbr!
It’s funny. I wouldn’t have thought adorable YA romance from the blurb. I’m glad you put that in there because I would have been interested in anyways, but that just makes it that much more attractive of a book to me. Great review!
Thank you ? And it was such a wonderful book, but also eye opening, touching, poignant. The topic makes you THINK, but the cast draws you in. Hope you’ll enjoy it if you get to it. Also, big thumbs up for the audiobook 😀
So happy you enjoyed this one! Definitely a favorite of the year ❤️
Erin it was WONDERFUL!!! It snuck up on me a bit, since I had no exceptions at all, but it turned out to be SO GOOD!! And I can see how it’s a favorite of the year for you – it definitely deserves the spot!!
Great review! I’ve been trying (and enjoying) more YA books this year so I’ll have to give this one a try!
I love to mix it up too, and thanks to it I’ve read some great YA books this year, books I probably wouldn’t have picked up otherwise 😀
I only recently stumbled across your blog and I’m just here to say that I love your photographs!
Thank you, love meeting a fellow German blogger 😀
I do too!
Great review! I finished this a few weeks ago and I agree with you, so eye opening and such a cute story too! I loved watching Felix find himself and figure out that he does deserve love because he felt like he didn’t. SO good! It made me all mushy haha! ☺️
since you have given it 5starts i think i need to read this… Thank you for the review 🙂
It was such a great book! I think you would enjoy it! ?
That’s so funny to read this Corina because if you loved the narration, I really disliked it in the beginning and got used to it by the end. That shows that reading and listening to audiobooks is truly a personal experience! I am glad though that it worked so well for you!
