BEST YOUNG ADULT BOOKS OF 2020

The Tech sisters don’t date in high school. Not because they’re not asked. Not because they’re not interested. iNot even because no one can pronounce their long, Thai last name—hence the shortened, awkward moniker. But simply because they’re not allowed.
Until now.
In a move that other Asian American girls know all too well, six months after the older Tech twins got to college, their parents asked, “Why aren’t you engaged yet?” The sisters retaliated by vowing that they won’t marry for ten (maybe even twenty!) years, not until they’ve had lots of the dating practice that they didn’t get in high school.
In a shocking war on the status quo, her parents now insist that their youngest daughter, Orrawin (aka “Winnie”), must practice fake dating in high school. Under their watchful eyes, of course—and organized based on their favorite rom-coms. ’Cause that won’t end in disaster.
The first candidate? The son of their longtime friends, Mat Songsomboon—arrogant, infuriating, and way too good-looking. Winnie’s known him since they were toddlers throwing sticky rice balls at each other. And her parents love him.
If only he weren’t her sworn enemy.

MY THOUGHTS & REVIEW
DATING MAKES PERFECT was adorable, sweet and just the light hearted romance I hoped for.
It reminded me a lot of TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE. The way the author wove her own culture into the story, from food to clothing, from Thai traditions to family dynamic, it was all very well done.
The couple, Orrawin and Mat were adorable together. Childhood friends, who became enemies to lovers, and now had to go fake dating via her mother’s guidelines. Most hilarious, her mother’s idea of dating came straight from rom-com movies.
As with TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE I loved the Tech’s family dynamic. There was so much love in this family. The Tech’s had this wonderful and genuine relationship with each other. And I especially adored the mother and father, no PDA in public, but the father snuck kisses when nobody looked – SWOON. They made me smile!!!
The writing was just what I like. Smart, witty, and funny. I think I read the book in two sittings, smiling my way through it.
What prevents me from rating the book higher is that it was a bit predictable at times. And it had some typical rom-com misunderstandings. But overall I enjoyed it. And I think it’s a wonderful YA romance and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE.

I love the sound of this book since I adored To All the Boys. It sounds like a super cute book. I’ll have to look it up at the library.
This one sounds adorable!!! I love the premise. I want to read it, but I think I’m going to wait a bit. YA books have not been working out well for me lately. It’s a mood thing, I think.
It’s never too late, put it on your tbr, and check it out when the time is right.
Ah this book sounds so so so adorable and I can’t wait to read! Such a lovely review <3<3
