April Wrap-Up / 2020
I think I’m not the only that feels like April was one strange month! But I can’t really complain it was a GOOD reading month for me.
I read 14 books PLUS the entire Kate Daniels series, which is another 10 books. There can’t be any doubt that I didn’t do much more this month than read.
April Wrap-Up / 2020
FAVORITE APRIL BOOKS |
? The Love Story of Missy Carmichael by Beth Morrey – review
? Open Book by Jessica Simpson – review
My re-read of Wild at Heart – still as good as the first time – review
My re-read of the ENTIRE Kate Daniels series. Comfort food for the soul.
APRIL AUDIOBOOKS |
Out of the 24 books, 9 were audiobooks
I just recently started the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache Series by Louise Penny, and finished three books this month. I’m planning on reading a couple every month, so I’ll be ready when book 15 is being released in September.
I also finally picked up my third book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, One True Loves, and feel like her writing has matured since. Evelyn, and Daisy Jones, felt a bit more refined in topic as well as execution compared to One True Loves.
? The Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson – this book was very emotional, it tells the story and the emotional aftermath of a teenager and sole survivor of a school shooting. It was very well written for a debut novel, and hooked me from the very first page.
? A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones – review
? Masked Prey (Lucas Davenport #30) by John Sandford – I’m still as entertained by this series as when I started it years ago. Although listening to them has become a habit, I don’t remember much of the individual cases anymore, they all start blending together.
BOOK READING GOAL |
75 books out of 100 are completed
and I’m 43 books ahead of schedule
Obviously April was a great reading month for me.
When I set my reading goal this year, I decided on 100 books. I knew it would be a goal I could easily achieve without having to worry about feeling pressured to NEED to read. Nobody was prepared for Covid-19 and the consequences, specifically Shelter in Place, which I already survived 6 weeks of it. In these 6 weeks I had endless time to read. Although, at the beginning I did hit some rough spots. But April was pretty much a free for all – in regards to books.
That’s how I was able to read 10 Kate Daniels books in 7 days – by not doing much else than reading. I’m aware that this will probably never happen again, so I’m enjoying this time as much as possible.
NETGALLEY READATHON |
My first readathon this year wasn’t as successful as I hoped. Out of the 4 books I set out to read, I only managed to check off one NG arc.
But I can’t really complain, my NetGalley feedback ratio is at 92%, and I only have 8 books on my NG shelf. But the 3 titles that are older than 3 month bother me quite a bit – lol.
Current titles (2) | Older than 3 months (6)
OTHER BOOKISH NEWS |
April was the month I finally switched my blog to a new URL, which also meant that I was starting over in regards to WP blog followers. Because of future plans, a new start was the only plausible thing to do for me. Although I’ve been blogging since 2016, it’s strange to feel like a newbie again.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN MAY |
May, is probably going to be the same as April. We are going to have a few more weeks of Shelter in Place. And I’ll have more time than usual to read.
I don’t have any specific reading goals, compared to blog goals. I need to do some more networking, here and on Pinterest. But otherwise it’s going to be mostly reading, keeping a routine, and exercise more.
But here are the books I’m looking forward to:
My April Wrap-Up / 2020
Omg 24 BOOKS! I admire you, I could never. I only read 9 or 10 a month?
I didn’t know what The Lucky Ones was about but now, I definitely have to read that one. I’m also reaaaally looking foward to Good Girl Bad Blood, and also The Switch! Hopefully you can read all the books on your tbr in may?
Honestly, I’m part hermit and LOVE to read all day. š I actually didn’t know what The Lucky Ones was about either until I picked it up, but it was so well done, definitely emotional, but an incredibly debut novel. I already started The Switch late last night ? which is never a good thing, because that meant I had to put it down eventually. Have a wonderful Friday š
I liked the Lucky ones too. Happy and You Know It is also on my TBR. I hope you enjoy it and all other books.
Thank you š Im looking forward to Happy and You Know It. Yay to a new month, and new reading opportunities. Happy May Day!
Glad to see you had a great reading month there. It has been a strange month but I agree the Kate Daniels series is such comfort reading too. And yeah NO ONE thought we would have house arrest in this COVID 19, since its never happened during a pandemic like this at least not for those healthy. So its something new and challenging for sure. Happy to see you are keeping your spirits up and ahead on your reading. I got behind on march but getting back into reading again. š
Hope you have a great month in May!
I just hope that this, what’s going on right now, is a wake up call, and won’t happen again. I can’t imagine use going through this every 5-10 years. It’s a nightmare of epic proportions. I think keeping our spirits up is all we can do. And read of course š Have a happy Friday, and happy May Day.
Great job! You have some really great reads coming up next month!
So many books!!! And so much reading!!! š April was a very good reading month for me as well, but that’s over next week… we are back at work on Monday, and I did work in April as well, but having a bit more flexible schedule and a little less work definitely contributed the number of books I managed to consume. Lol
I hope you’ll be able to read all of these in May! š
I bet it’s good to be back at work. This has been such a hard time for many. I think when it’s all over we will never forget these weeks, and maybe months depending on the state/country. And I think I’ll never read as much as I read during the Shelter in Place – lol.
Have a wonderful May Day!!
Looks like you had a great month (all things considered)! I’m looking forward to reading The Switch, too!
I did :D, really can’t complain. And I already started The Switch last night, which wasn’t the best idea since I had to put it down eventually – but I’ll hope I get back to it today.
Have a wonderful May Day š
Sounds like you had an excellent reading month! I’m really looking forward to The Switch too. xx
thank you š and I just finished The Switch yesterday and LOVED it!!
I’m happy to hear that! xx
How exciting to have a new home URL and plans for moving forward though! I’m sure it’s frustrating to lose your community, but hopefully they’ll find their way back š
It will be a change, but a new start too, which can be quite advantageous. New shelves to fill etc – lol
