I don’t know what to say, but 2020 is kicking my butt….
It’s just not my kind of year. Overall the year has been a clusterfuck of one thing after another. I’m going to be really happy when it’s all done and over with.
All I can do is take one day at a time. Concentrate on what’s important at the moment: staying healthy, getting fit, and getting on that airplane.
But let’s talk about something positive instead, let’s talk about books.
I officially read 15 books this month, but I did squeeze in a few re-reads that I didn’t track. During these last few months I found myself gravitating to favorite books when I wasn’t in the mood to read something new. On the other hand the audiobooks I’m listening to have all been great. I love finding new authors, and enjoying books I wouldn’t have read three years ago.

FAVORITE SEPTEMBER BOOKS

On The Wings of War was as amazing as I hoped it would be. And as soon as I was done with it I wanted to read the next one. I LOVE this series, and for anyone loving UF and MM you must give these books a try.
A read a new JD ROBB book, what can I say, Shadows In Death was exactly what I’ve come to expect from her books. It’s like visiting old friends. And I especially liked that this one was focused on Roarke.
Anxious People was not exactly what I expected but I really started to appreciate the complexity and originality of the story the more I thought about it. Btw, the audiobook was fantastic!
I also re-read one of my most favorite trilogies of all times: Captive Prince

I can never get enough of this series, and I’m contemplating to commission my second fan art, this time for Captive Prince AND I finally read two of the four short stories that are available on Amazon, which of course were way too short and not enough if you ask me.

SEPTEMBER AUDIOBOOKS 🎧

I read Anxious People twice, ones the regular way and once as audiobook and I must say, I’m LOVING his audiobooks. It was the same narrator as BEARTOWN and she does a fabulous job. I think from now on I’ll always listen to his books. They are SO GOOD!!
The audiobook for DUNE was offered to me by the publisher. And it was like they read my mind. I had DUNE on my tbr for years, and I had this grant plan to listen/read the book before the movie was being released, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. Also, the audiobook was AMAZING!! It won an AUDIE award in 2003 – and it deserved it.
The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett: A Novel was heartfelt and brought me to tears. It’s the perfect book for anyone who loved A Man Called Ove and Eleanor Oliphant.
Clap When You Land was my third book by Elizabeth Acevedo, and at this point I can say that I love her books. Also, it was interesting that the author mentioned people clap when they land in DR. On my first flight ever, to IBIZA many years ago, everyone clapped too. It’s a nice gesture, a thank you for a safe flight.
Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance: A Novel was such an interesting novel. I saw it everywhere around the time it was released, and never felt the urge to read it. But I’m glad I finally did. It’s one amazing debut novel, and if you want to read something unique, you should pick it up.
The Switch, it was my second time reading this book. I read it at the beginning of the year, and wanted to listen to the book as well since I loved the audiobook of The Flatshare. I was surprised by how long it took me to finish this book. In the end, the story pulled it through, because I felt the audiobook wasn’t the best one.
What Unbreakable Looks Like: A Novel was one amazing debut novel. Raw, gritty and at times hard to get through, but I was hooked from beginning to end.
Black Kids was another great audiobook. One of my few diverse books this month, and another one that taught me something. Definitely a recommendation.

BOOK READING GOALS
I’ve read 159 books of my goal of 100.
I reached a point, which is typical for me if I’m honest, when it comes to challenges there comes a time when I lose steam and interest. My A to Z challenge isn’t going that great. I’ve heard about the “dreaded letters” VWXYZ and it doesn’t look good. I might end up not finding any books I want to read for these letters. But I’m not giving up yet.

Diverse Reading Challenge
I only read three books this month that were written by BIPOC authors. Some month are better than others, but I’ll keep on adding books to my tbr.

A to Z Reading Challenge
I’ve only added three letters to my A to Z challenge this month. And I still need to fill a couple letters.

Looks like you had amazing reading month. Eudora was amazing, it’s great you enjoyed it too.
I was a great book! And another new author to keep my eyes on 😀
I feel the same about 2020! But it looks like you had a great reading month!
You are right, I can’t complain about the books 😀
I have to ARC for Spoiler Alert, it’ll be my first read by the author! I’m excited to read it.
Audio seems to keep you in your stride. I don’t think we can beat ourselves up about how the year is affecting our reading. I’m grateful for every bit of escapism-Micky 😍
This year needs to go. It still looks like you had a great month, though.
I usually can’t complain about my reading 😀
I agree with you about 2020! I’ve been in a slump for most of it. However, you read a lot and had a good month!
I can’t complain about the books :D, I still read as much as ever, but everything else I would like to skip. Let’s 2021 be a better year!
